It is cold out there!! The surface of the water in the canal running along Königsallee is frozen because of the continuous low temperatures. Almost every lake and canal in the area is frozen!

On St. Martin’s Day (11th November) children go through the streets with paper lanterns and candles, and sing songs about St. Martin. This photo was taken today in a school, where lanterns, that children have made for this day, were exhibited.

Heinrich Heine was born in Düsseldorf and was one of the most significant German poets and journalists in the 19th century. He is best known for his lyric poetry, while many of Heine’s works had been set to music by Robert Schumann.
